Working with Industry to Develop Efficient and Robust Industrial Biotechnology Processes
The AD Centre undertakes a broad range of research and development activity in collaboration with industrial partners across the UK and internationally. The state of the art laboratory space at the University of South Wales is a world leading facility dedicated to the research and development of anaerobic processes and biotechnology solutions, and we work closely with our industrial partners to identify and develop market changing technologies, improve the efficiency of existing processes, and solve plant specific problems.
Our current R&D portfolio includes:
- Biomethanation and Power to Gas Processes
- Flexible Production of Biogas / Supply-Demand Matching
- Microbial Optimisation of Anaerobic Processes
- Dewatering of Sludges and Digestates
- Production of Biopolymers and other novel products
- Smart Circle
- KESS PhD Studentships
- BEACON Project
- BioGrid Project
Continuously fed Stainless Steel Anaerobic Digestion Rigs in our Pilot Hall.
QPCR Analysis allows us to quantify methanogenic populations within reactors.
Innovative analysis using GC-IMS to characterise organic substrates and identify odorous compounds.
Rheometer to measure rheology of liquid matrices.
